Dani Roberts is a life long Vermonter with roots going back to the Revolutionary war.  Her life long love of history started her on the path to her newsletter Rooted in the Green Mountains, which was started in 1996. With the passing of Laura Hulsander in 1999 she was able to continue Lauraís work with her newsletter, Sleeper News, which focuses on Washington County New York and Sleeper Queries, a query newsletter on all of New England and New York.  Sleeper Books sells many books compiled by Laura which focus on Washington County, New York.   The Sleeper name is a tribute to Lauraís ancestors who had the surname Sleeper!

Dani lives in the home she grew up in, in Fair Haven, Vermont, where she and her husband Hugh, raised 3 children, Samantha, Garth and Gwynneth.  She volunteers at the Fair Haven Free Library one day a week working in the Vermont Room and helping visitors with their research projects.  Dani was a founding member of the Fair Haven Historical Society and was itís first treasurer.  She has held the offices of treasurer, secretary and president, presently she is the curator and historian of the society.  Currently, she is also the assistant town clerk in Fair Haven.  In her spare time she enjoys working on her own genealogy.

Sleeper Company was started in the 1990ís by Laura Penney Hulsander, who had a great love for the Washington county New York area, where her ancestors settled.   Although Laura and Dani never met face to face they spoke extensively on the phone and became good friends. Dani was lucky enough acquire Sleeper Company in 1999 and added her newsletter Rooted in the Green Mountains to it at that time.

In 2003 Dani acquired Aceto Bookmen from the Estate of Charles Townsend from Florida.  Charles spend over 50 years researching and compiling research book in New England and a few books from various states.  As times change and the internet continues to be a greater resource for researchers Sleeper Books is focusing on books that are generally not available from other sources and in most cases are not available on the web.
