OTHER VERMONT BOOKS

This book is a geneological summary of the families that lived along the New York border in Vermont and their connection with those who lived over the line in New York. In as much as keeping of Vital Records by Town Clerks in Vt was not legislated until 1840, this record of the pensioners and soldiers of Vt in the War of 1812 partially makes up for this impediment. The volume begins with an alphabetically arranged series of abstracts of the evidence presented by the claimants to a pension agent, in most cases indicating the veterans units, dates and places of service, and relationship to the claimant. This is followed by lists of some 200 Vermonters who volunteered to serve at Plattsburgh. The appendix to the book, consists of yet other lists and various accounts of the conflict, sheds further light on the role of Vermonters. Soft cover, illus, 171 pages (1904) 1996 #9824 $18.00

This work contains much more information than a normal church history. The membership list is a gold mine of information on the people who belonged to this church from its beginning in 1768 until 1898. This data given not only tells about where the member came from, but in most cases what happened to them after they left the church. Dismissals from a church often contain the data to locate where your ancestor went from one location to another. This is a very useful tool for researching in Windsor, VT. Soft cover, indexed. 122 pages. #9825 $25.00
